Induction to Alpha Phi Sigma Alpha Delta Chapter
Three American International College students studying criminal justice have been inducted into Alpha Phi Sigma, Alpha Delta Chapter. This national honor society has stringent eligibility requirements, which these students have met or exceeded. To qualify, students pursuing a bachelor's degree must have completed at least 37.5 percent of the credits required for graduation and must maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.3. Additionally, students must complete at least four courses in the field of criminal justice with a minimum GPA of 3.2.

American International College Students Inducted into Alpha Chi National College Honor Society
Sixteen students have been inducted into the American International College (AIC) Chapter of Alpha Chi for the Spring 2024 semester. Since 1922 Alpha Chi National College Honor Society has distinguished itself as one of the top national honor societies in the nation. Alpha Chi recognizes exceptional student scholars who rank in the top ten percent of the junior or senior class across all academic disciplines.

Induction into Pi Sigma Alpha Honor Society
Alyssa Kelleher of Worcester, Massachusetts, has been inducted into Pi Sigma Alpha - the national political science honor society. Ms. Kelleher graduated from American International College (AIC) in May 2024, with a bachelor of arts in political science. According to the organization, Pi Sigma Alpha hosts chapters on nearly 850 campuses and has inducted more than 300,000 members. Its rolls feature national, state, and local political leaders including one president, three Supreme Court justices, and dozens of members of Congress. Each year those who have achieved academic excellence are inducted and display the same passion for politics and policy.

AHCA All-American Scholars
Thirteen members of the American International College ice hockey team garnered 2023-24 Krampade/American Hockey Coaches Association All-American Scholar status for the most recently completed season, the AHCA announced on Monday, July 1. AIC's thirteen selections ties the College for the fourth-most among all NCAA Division I men's ice hockey teams. To earn the distinction, student-athletes must have played in at least 40 percent of their team's games in the 2023-24 season and posted a grade-point average of 3.75 in each of the two semesters. Graduate students Brett Callahan and Logan Jenuwine earned the honors, with Callahan garnering his third accolade with AIC. They are joined by three seniors in Jordan Biro, Julius Janhonen, and Nico Somerville. Somerville also gathered his third honor, while Biro took his second with the Yellow Jackets. Oscar Geschwind and Evan Stella were AIC's two juniors to bring home the award, both for the first time, while sophomores Alexander Malinowski and Josh Barnes each earned their second selection in as many seasons. Rounding out AIC's contingent are rookies Theo Angesved, Peyton Grainer, Alfred Lindberg, and Hunter Longhi, all winning their first laurels in their first season at the NCAA level. First awarded following the 2016-17 season, the AHCA has named eight All-American Scholar teams. In those eight campaigns, the Yellow Jackets have earned 97 All-American Scholar distinctions.

NIRA All-Academic Team
The National Intercollegiate Rugby Association released its selections for the 2023-24 NIRA All-Academic Team on Friday, June 28. Seven members of the American International College women's rugby team were selected. To earn the accolade, student-athletes must have a cumulative grade-point average at or above 3.50. Each student-athlete was instrumental in the success of the program throughout the year as the team reached the 2023 NIRA Division II Championship Tournament in the fall for 15s and took fourth at the 2024 Collegiate Rugby Championship National 7s Tournament.

American International College Celebrates 2024 Graduates
American International College (AIC) held its 139th commencement ceremony on May 11 at the Mass Mutual Center in Springfield, celebrating more than 600 graduates in the Class of 2024. Keynote speaker Michael D. Smith - the CEO of AmeriCorps - regaled graduates, their families, and AIC faculty and staff with stories from his youth, growing up in the McKnight neighborhood of Springfield. Smith spoke of how being part of a community at the Boys and Girls Club of Springfield planted the seeds for his future in which he leads the country's largest public volunteer force. The ceremony saw 216 bachelor's degrees, 279 master's, seventy-two certificates of graduate study, and thirty-six doctorates awarded. The College's Interim President Nicolle Cestero told invited the soon-to-be alumni to maintain close ties with their alma mater. "Return to the College often and stay connected with the community that has shaped you into the remarkable individual you are today. Whatever tomorrow holds for you, remember the lessons you've learned here, the challenges you've overcome, and the dreams that have fueled your aspirations." AIC congratulates the 2024 graduates and wishes them well in their future endeavors!

American International College (AIC) has recognized fifty students during its 2024 Co-Curricular Leadership and Involvement Awards Ceremony on April 22 in the College's Schwartz Campus Center Auditorium. The Co-Curricular Awards Ceremony shines a light on students who embody AIC's spirit through their leadership, service, dedication as student employees, volunteerism, and other outstanding contributions. F.J. Maloney Award for Outstanding Athlete
Eighteen student-athletes were recognized for their outstanding contributions to the success of the American International College (AIC) Department of Athletics at the 2023-24 Athletics Awards Night held in the Butova Gymnasium on Wednesday, April 24, 2024. The final award of the night to be given was the F.J. Maloney Award. First given in 1941, the award is presented to the most outstanding male and female athletes for four years at AIC. The awards were presented to Brett Callahan of ice hockey and Abigail Wells of softball. Callahan, who co-captained the ice hockey team this season, was a stalwart on the blueline for five seasons, scoring 43 points in 113 games and helping AIC to three AHA Championships. Wells is in her final season and has been a four-year starter in center field, earning NE10 All-Conference honors as a sophomore and posting a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage in 2024 to this point.

President's Cup
Eighteen student-athletes were recognized for their outstanding contributions to the success of the American International College (AIC) Department of Athletics at the 2023-24 Athletics Awards Night held in the Butova Gymnasium on Wednesday, April 24, 2024. The President's Cup recognizes the top male and female student-athletes in the academic year. Head Softball Coach Shalise Tolentino presented the awards to men's basketball's Justice Ellison and women's volleyball's Aleksandra Ivanovic. Ellison dominated the NE10 as the leading scorer in the conference, reaching his 1000th career point as just a sophomore on his way to earning First-Team All-Region and First-Team All-Conference honors. Ivanovic dominated her competition with the second-highest attack percentage in all of NCAA Division II and garnered her first AVCA All-American accolade.

Yellow Jacket of the Year
Eighteen student-athletes were recognized for their outstanding contributions to the success of the American International College (AIC) Department of Athletics at the 2023-24 Athletics Awards Night held in the Butova Gymnasium on Wednesday, April 24, 2024. The Yellow Jacket of the Year Award is presented to the male and female student-athlete who best exemplifies AIC in character, talent, and spirit. The award, presented by Head Golf Coach John Jackson, went to baseball's Jackson Haker and Paola Soto-Burgos of women's volleyball. Haker was a First-Team All-Region selection in 2023 and is tracking to repeat as he is in the top seven in both batting average and on-base percentage in the NE10. Soto-Burgos led AIC to another NE10 and NCAA Tournament appearance and earned her second consecutive AVCA All-American honor. Both are members of the SAAC Executive Board, with Haker serving as Fundraising Coordinator.

Theater Students Take Center Stage in Two-Person Production of Topdog/Underdog
Over a two-night run of Topdog/Underdog, fifty audience members each night were treated to an exceptional experience. The play was selected by the two sophomore actors - Denzel Chmiel and Khamari Hamblin - who dedicated three hours a day, three times a week to rehearsals. The unique setting, with the audience on stage surrounding the actors, created an intimate atmosphere that enhanced the impact of this remarkable presentation.
