American International College

Thirteen members of the American International College ice hockey team garnered 2023-24 Krampade/American Hockey Coaches Association All-American Scholar status for the most recently completed season, the AHCA announced on Monday, July 1. AIC's thirteen selections ties the College for the fourth-most among all NCAA Division I men's ice hockey teams. To earn the distinction, student-athletes must have played in at least 40 percent of their team's games in the 2023-24 season and posted a grade-point average of 3.75 in each of the two semesters. Graduate students Brett Callahan and Logan Jenuwine earned the honors, with Callahan garnering his third accolade with AIC. They are joined by three seniors in Jordan Biro, Julius Janhonen, and Nico Somerville. Somerville also gathered his third honor, while Biro took his second with the Yellow Jackets. Oscar Geschwind and Evan Stella were AIC's two juniors to bring home the award, both for the first time, while sophomores Alexander Malinowski and Josh Barnes each earned their second selection in as many seasons. Rounding out AIC's contingent are rookies Theo Angesved, Peyton Grainer, Alfred Lindberg, and Hunter Longhi, all winning their first laurels in their first season at the NCAA level. First awarded following the 2016-17 season, the AHCA has named eight All-American Scholar teams. In those eight campaigns, the Yellow Jackets have earned 97 All-American Scholar distinctions.

The National Intercollegiate Rugby Association released its selections for the 2023-24 NIRA All-Academic Team on Friday, June 28. Seven members of the American International College women's rugby team were selected. To earn the accolade, student-athletes must have a cumulative grade-point average at or above 3.50. Each student-athlete was instrumental in the success of the program throughout the year as the team reached the 2023 NIRA Division II Championship Tournament in the fall for 15s and took fourth at the 2024 Collegiate Rugby Championship National 7s Tournament.

American International College (AIC) has recognized more than forty students during the College's 2024 Academic Awards ceremony. These awards shine a spotlight on excellence across all subject areas, celebrating the hard work and achievements of our learners. AIC congratulates these deserving students for their remarkable achievements.

The National Field Hockey Coaches Association announced the winners of its 2023 Scholars of Distinction and its 2023 NCAA Division II Team Academic Award on February 19, 2024. The American International College (AIC) field hockey team was well-represented in both, winning the Team Academic Award with a nation-best 3.73 grade point average during the fall 2023 semester, and five student-athletes earned Scholar of Distinction honors. Overall, 12 teams earned the NFHCA's Team Academic Award, which is given to each team that holds a cumulative team grade point average above 3.50 among its student-athletes for the fall semester, during which NCAA championship competition is held. AIC was the only NCAA Division II team above a 3.70 GPA as a team and was one of four Northeast-10 Conference programs honored. The Scholar of Distinction award is granted to undergraduate student-athletes who hold a cumulative grade point average of 3.90 or higher through the end of the most recent fall semester. AIC's five honorees were Mayra Bok, Mar Busqueta, Maddie Darling, Phaedra Day, and Fenna Voll. Day earned the award for the second time in as many seasons.

The National Field Hockey Coaches Association announced the members of the 2023 Division II National Academic Squad on Wednesday, February 14, 2024. The American International College (AIC) field hockey team had 14 award winners, who are undergraduate student-athletes with a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.50 on a 4.00 scale through the end of the fall 2023 semester.

American International College congratulates its student-athletes who have been inducted into the Athletic Director's 3.0 Club for the Fall 2023 semester. AIC Athletics Director Jessica Chapin recognized more than three hundred student-athletes who have achieved a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better after one or more years enrolled at AIC. The primary objective for these students is to stand as academic role models, inspiring fellow student-athletes with their achievements and dedication!

Victoria DallaCosta, of Sandwich, MA, received the Outstanding Achievement in Occupational Therapy Award during the American International College (AIC) Academic Awards ceremony this spring. The Outstanding Achievement in Occupational Therapy Award is presented to a student who achieves excellence in the field of occupational therapy. Victoria is majoring in occupational science.

Ashley Barile, of Vernon, CT, received the Academic Achievement in the Undergraduate Physical Therapy Program Award during the Academic Awards ceremony at American International College (AIC) this spring. The Academic Achievement in the Undergraduate Physical Therapy Program Award is presented to a student who displays outstanding academic achievement in the undergraduate physical therapy program.

Kelly Boisjolie, of Easthampton, MA, received the Academic Achievement in the Undergraduate Physical Therapy Program Award during the Academic Awards ceremony at American International College (AIC) this spring. The Academic Achievement in the Undergraduate Physical Therapy Program Award is presented to a student who displays outstanding academic achievement in the undergraduate physical therapy program.

Matthew Costanza, of Revere, MA, received the Academic Achievement in the Undergraduate Physical Therapy Program Award during the Academic Awards ceremony at American International College (AIC) this spring. The Academic Achievement in the Undergraduate Physical Therapy Program Award is presented to a student who displays outstanding academic achievement in the undergraduate physical therapy program.

Jeffrey Soja, of Wilbraham, MA, received the Academic Achievement in the Undergraduate Physical Therapy Program Award during the Academic Awards ceremony at American International College (AIC) this spring. The Academic Achievement in the Undergraduate Physical Therapy Program Award is presented to a student who displays outstanding academic achievement in the undergraduate physical therapy program.

Shawn McBride, of Tofino, British Columbia, received the Award for Distinguished Senior Students in Sports and Recreation Management during the American International College (AIC) Academic Awards ceremony this spring. The Award for Distinguished Senior Students in Sports and Recreation Management is presented to a senior student who goes above and beyond expectations, achieving excellence in the sports and recreation management program. Shawn, who majored in sports and recreation management, graduated in May.

Terrell, who majored in sports and recreation management, graduated in May.
