Mercy Rivera Receives Student-Athlete of the Year Award

Mercy Rivera of Canovanas, Puerto Rico, majoring in Psychology, received a Student-Athlete of the Year Award from American International College (AIC) at an awards ceremony this spring.

The Student-Athlete Award is presented to a male and female individual from each class year who best exemplifies a well-rounded student-athlete. Mercy received the Third Year Female Student-Athlete Award.

Mercy, is a star for AIC volleyball in the team's best season to date. She shone defensively for the Yellow Jackets, and was named to the AVCA All-Region team this season, in addition to being named the NE10 Libero and Defensive Player of the Year and first-team All-Conference. Mercy had 776 digs on the season, with an average of 5.79 digs per set in 134 sets. She led the NE10 in total digs by a margin of more than 100, and ranked third in the nation in that category.
