Lauren Pires Receives Milton J. Piepul Merit Medal

2017 Jul 11

Lauren Pires of Dartmouth, MA, majoring in Occupational Therapy, received the Milton J. Piepul Merit Medal at American International College's (AIC) Athletic Awards ceremony this spring. The Milton J. Piepul Merit Medal is given to a senior who combines excellence on the field with excellence in the classroom, including a 3.5 GPA or higher.

Lauren was an unsung hero on the best team in AIC volleyball history, which won the East Region at the NCAA Tournament and advanced to the Elite Eight. Her hard work to open up opportunities offensively and defensively led to more wins than any individual stat can measure. Lauren was recognized this season by being named to the third Team All Northeast-10 Conference. She led the NE10 in hitting percentage during this past season. Lauren ranked 4th in program history hitting percentage and block assists, and 5th in total blocks. In the single-season rankings, she ranked fourth in block assists, sixth in hitting percentage, and ninth in block assists and total blocks.
