Bryant Christian Receives Robert Burke Athletic Director's Award

2017 Jul 13

Bryant Christian of Moorhead, MN, received the Robert Burke Athletic Director's Award at American International College's (AIC) Athletic Awards ceremony this spring. The Robert Burke Athletic Director's award recognizes community service and outstanding perfomance or competitive improvement over an athletic career.

Bryant , AIC Division I men's ice hockey junior alternate captain, played in all but one game during the season, regularly centering a line with underclassmen on a team with 13 rookies. Throughout the season, Bryant was a three-zone player who led by example. More significantly, he became a close friend and teammate to Xavier Pereira, a five-year-old from Ludlow, who joined the Yellow Jackets through Team IMPACT. Both Xavier and Bryant wear the number 11. Nearly every Sunday throughout the season (even after being up late playing a game the night before), Bryant attended Xavier's weekly learn-to-skate sessions. He also attended Xavier's soccer practices and was his biggest fan. The AIC men's hockey program grew significantly thanks to the quiet leadership and example set by Bryant . He will continue to contribute to the team's growth next season.
